Big Game Capital of the USA      Venice, Lousiana

We offer complete full day and overnight fishing excursions into the Northern Gulf of Mexico. Your adventure can take you as far as 80 miles from the end of the pass (close to a HUNDRED from the dock). You will go where the fish are. Lucky for us, we are blessed with a vast area of great habitat from which to choose. Typically, for our blue water quarry, we are fishing around many of the floating oil/gas structures in the Mississippi Canyon...usually in 2500 to 5000 feet of water. Most of our rig and wreck fishing occurs in much less water. 200-500 feet is a realistic depth to target big grouper, snapper, cobia and amberjack.

Long Range Overnight   These trips typically leave the dock at 2:00 pm. Your first order of business will be to secure some live bait. That is accomplished around one of the many stand-off buoys or around local, medium ranged platforms close to the break in the Continental Shelf. Small blue runners (tuna crack), threadfin herring, goggle eyes, scad, bar jacks and mullet are all acceptable offerings. fellas.jpg (12908 bytes)That accomplished, you will move to your first fishing location to set lines out for the late afternoon/evening bite and fish through sunset. With the arrival of nightfall, usually a move is in order, and you bounce out another 30 miles or so to a deep water floater. Mars, Ursa, Devil's Tower, Horn Mountain, Nikika, Elph, Medussa and Ram Powell are some of our favorites. This is where most of the best nighttime action occurs.
All the ambient light of these structures works to attract baitfish, squid, and other small organisms. Of course this in turn, attracts bigger game fish and so on. The light also works in the feeding fish's favor in that in creates a perfect scenario for them to ambush the blinded bait from below, since they are silloetted so perfectly against the light at the surface. This helps create the most amazing top-water fishing you can imagine.
The overnight fishing finds us slow trolling live bait, casting poppers and Frenzy flying fish at busting tunas, jigging glow diamond jigs for blackfin and bigeye tuna, kite fishing live baits, trolling diving plugs and also chunking. We adapt all of these techniques each night to develop the technique that they want...since as every serious fisherman knows...it seems like they want something a little different each time.
Depending on the night action, you may choose to move into a better location for dawn or simply relax until the action heats up with the arrival of the sun. Probabaly the single best hour of fishing each day, and you will be positioned perfectly to capitalize with a night's worth of expertise under your belt.
With mostly tired passengers and usually a full box of fish, your vessel will be headed North, but your angling may not be over. group packages.jpg (25672 bytes)One of the great resources that we enjoy here in Louisiana is the abundance of oil/gas platforms. No matter which route your captain chooses to take...he can't help but pass all kinds of rigs.   Firing down the remainer of your hard-earned live bait can produce great results. Gag and warsaw grouper, red snapper and monster amberjacks all call these platforms home. And they are usually willing takers.
The whole ordeal will have you back at the dock no later than 2:00 pm the following day. Your time can be divided up any way you choose and you may tailor any one of these trips to suit your individual needs or requests.

12 hour Blue Water and Rig/Wreck  Our standard day trip has us leaving the dock between 5:00 and 6:00 am (specified by your captain) and may entail several different things depending on your target species of fish. For our usual customers, that has us leaving the dock with good live bait on our minds.grouppackages2.jpg (27298 bytes) An early start is usually an advantage since that gives us a jump on the rest of the fleet. With some live bait at your disposal, your captain will head for productive waters which may lie just 7 miles out (Fall mullet run fishing) all the way to about 60 miles which puts you in up to 5000 feet of water. In any case, you will be in business with our cutting edge tackle and techniques many of which we have developed ourselves.
You will arrive back at the dock around 6:00 but may be earlier or later dependeing on specific circumstances.
